The Meridian Trust Association’s
Sailing School can offer you the following courses. Our prices
include food*, berthing fees, hire of foul weather gear, gas,
diesel.
No hidden Extras!
The courses are conducted in the Solent on
one of our code of practice standard yachts by a RYA Yachtmaster
instructor in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Our fleet base is Port Solent Marina which
is a modern marina situated at the north of Portsmouth Harbour,
with free on site parking and a wide choice of restaurants and
shops plus a chandlery and UCI cinema.

Courses Available
Competent Crew Practical
An introduction to the complete beginner to teach personal safety
seamenship and helmsmanship to the level required to become a
useful crew member.
No pre-course experience needed.
Day Skipper Practical
The objective of this is to teach pilotage, navigation, seamanship
and boat handling up to a standard required to skipper a small
cruising yacht safely by day in tidal water with which the client
is familiar.
5 days, 100 miles, 4 night hours pre course
experience.
Coastal Skipper Practical
The aim of this course is to teach the skills and techniques required
to skipper a yacht safely on coastal and offshore passages by
day and night
I5 days (2 as skipper) 300 miles 8 night
hours pre course experience.
Coastal Skipper I Yachtmaster Prep
A Demanding 5 day up-date course to prepare you for the 2 day
RYA/D.O.T Exam.
For experienced skippers only.
Chartering - 0900 to 1800
Our code of practice fleet indudes the historic vessel ‘Lively
Lady’ made famous by the late Sir Alec Rose, during
his circumnavigation of the globe in 1967/68. All our yachts are
available for charter, the price includes a qualified skipper
and mate, tea/coffee and soft drinks.
Adventurous Sail Training I Leadership
The medium of sail training is an ideal environment for teambuilding.
We can offer single day or multiples of days for the development
of your team in leadership and teamwork. Lunch only induded in
the price.
The RYA / D.O.T Examination
This allows us to prepare you for these exams by doing our coastal
skipper/yachtmaster prep course. We will arrange a RYA examiner
for your 2 Day Exam. Exam fee payable to the RYA.
Coastal Skipper
Minimum seatime experience 30 days (2 days as skipper) 800 miles
12 night hours.
Certificates required restricted (VHF only) or radio operators,
first aid.
For holders of the coastal skipper practical course completion
certificate the seatime requirement is reduced to 20 days (2 as
skipper).
400 miles 12 night hours.
Yachtmaster Offshore
Minimum seatime experience 50 days (5 day as skipper) 2500 miles,
5 passages over 60 NM
Including 2 overnight and 2 as skipper. Certificates required
restricted (VHF only) or radio operators, first aid.
Course Timings are Sunday 18.00 -Friday 14.30
